26 years, from Belgium. Recruited by WOSM after I responded to an announcement on the Scout’s Facebook page.

Why are you here?

I am really good at making children smile. I believe that everyone has the right to live a decent life and that the refugees that we are working with have left their homeland for a reason. Many may have been through hard moments and might therefore need more help to reach their goals and dreams.

Your proudest moment?

Probably receiving my University diploma. I arrived at university with really low self-confidence. To receive the diploma made me realise that I could achieve whatever I wanted to.

Your strengths?

As mentioned, I am really good at entertaining children and make them smile. I can easily put myself in another’s shoes and therefore understand children’s issues. I am also a quick learner and enjoy questioning my own opinion. My weakness is that I will only be 100% effective if I enjoy what I am doing. I might otherwise use my time for anything else I am more interested in.

How do you relax?

I love swimming (surfing whenever it is possible), listening to music, meditation,…

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

I would choose… Gorillaz, (Clint Eastwood), Lose yourself & Mockingbird (Eminem), Confrontation with Count Dooku (Star Wars main song).

If you were a film character, who would it be?

Jack Sparrow: I love adventure and freedom, I would love to be able to travel wherever  and whenever I want (preferably on a boat). My whole life is improvisation: I hate organisation or planning.

My wishes?

That everyone could have a life that is worth living, where and when he/she was born. That every child in the future has access to their basic needs at the very place they were born: peace, food, shelter, water.
